February 12 snow!We had a great snowstorm on Monday night (2-9) got about 3 inches of heavy, wet snow. Of course it melted off the next day, like it always does, but it was fun for a little bit, and an opportunity to take some pretty pictures. Enjoy! October 29 New workOK- so once again I've neglected this blog. The thing is, I have another blog on blogspot- the address for it is:
www.foxazhandmade.blogspot.com So I've posted over there for awhile.
And I've been making things, and doing some promotional things to that end... I have started new shops at ShopHandmade.com --- www.shophandmade.com/Store/Foxaz and at Artfire.com here: http://artfire.com/modules.php?name=Shop&seller_id=499 Artfire and Shophandmade are both very new venues for handmade items. Artfire is still in the beta stage.
I still have my etsy shop: www.foxaz.etsy.com with most of our things there. But we're branching out and not putting all our eggs in one basket. It's complicated to keep up with it all, for sure.
And then of course we still see lots of Doctors and try to garden as much as our creaky backs and sore feet will let us. It seems as though I spend most of my time on the computer. Or making things, cooking, cleaning (a little) and cleaning catboxes.
This country is in one heckuva mess.
Peace,
Susan
August 04 Playing with "Paint"I had to get a new computer. The old one froze up and we're still trying to access all the info it holds - or held...
In the meantime, I bought a new one - with Vista. I completely understand the bloated Bill Gates look-alike commercials now- it's pretty but ponderous. There are a few adjustments you can make, removing a bit of the 'pretty" to get better performance, so I've done that, and it helps. The thing is, when there are so many bells and whistles, it's tempting to play with them!
Another slight problem is that most of my old favorite programs won't work with Vista. Granted, some of them are old, but, as we all know, old shouldn't mean useless!
I pulled up the Paint program the other day and felt just like a kid again, playing with the shapes and colors. So I thought I'd post them here for anyone who happens by. Enjoy! August 01 August - the Last Hurrah of SummerHere it is August- the days are getting shorter and the thunderstorms are still rolling around in the distance. I've tried to hire a gardener to help with the weeds, but they just don't show up. So I'll be pulling weeds this next week, not a problem, but thought I'd spread a bit of love amongst my fellow humans by offering $$ for work. I guess it's easier to sell drugs or steal stuff. Been a few break-ins, stolen cars, and last night a man who sets tile and does concrete had his truck and tools stolen. Hope he gets it back, but it's probably in Mexico by now.
My foot is all healed up and doing great. I can wear shoes and walk anywhere I need to go. Yay!!
I'll be working at the polls for the election this year. They called and asked, and I'd never done it before, so we'll see how that goes. Let's hope things work out for America and we get a decent leader. Someone the rest of the world can respect.
July 04 My Blogiversary!I just realized that this month is my Blogiversary on this site! How exciting!
I haven't been all that attentive in terms of keeping up with it, but when you're retired, you just don't have to! You can do whatever you want, no boss around.
When I started, we'd just come back from 2 weeks of operations at Good Sam's in Phoenix. My husband had triple bypass, carotid and aneurysms repaired. his back was killing him, along with all the rest of his body. He was on so much medication, couldn't sleep - so I started blogging as a stress reliever. Now that he's better, I haven't been posting so much. I do spend time reading friends blogs ans stuff like that.
I read the other day that Martha Stewarts' empire was on the downturn. She is such an icon to handmade good things, I can't imagine her company faltering. She hosted the founder of Etsy on her show, and focused on handmade items from the site. Now that the economy has taken such a drastic downturn here in the states, discretionary cash to spend on higher-priced handmade items is rapidly becoming a thing of the past. Who can afford $28 for handspun yarn to make a hat? Who can afford $50 for a pretty little 5" pottery bowl? At this time, the Thrift Store looks so much more appealing. Recycling other folks' high-class discards makes sense when $$ is in short supply.
We still need gas in the car to go to the doctor, and cash in the bank to pay for medications... oh, and food, utilities, insurance...
I hope wherever you are in the world, that you have what you need and can enjoy waking up in the morning. That's all I can hope for,
Peace & Love,
Susan |
